Oahu Hawaii Day 2

Day 2 and after an early night of sound sleep I set out to get a pic of the state capitol for my collection. Next it was back to the North Shore. I found a little diner on the way and got some Spam and Poi. then I stopped by Matsumoto's for some shaved Ice, and then on down the coast stopping from time to time to swim of just sit on the beach. The North Shore has some wicked rips on the beaches and this is the calm season. I could see how a swimmer could get in to trouble during the big wave season. Along the way I got a couple of more pineapples. The car is starting to get a little messy with pineapple juice and sand. I also drove out to Ka'ena point and stumbled on to a plane crash that is actually a set for a new TV show.
Next on to the eastern side of the island, I love the dramatic ridgelines here and the deep valleys, I definitely need to come back here and explore some more. Also the swimming here is much easier than on the North shore, Less wind and gentler surf. in the evening I headed to Giovannis Shrimp Truck in Kahuku, what an awesome place. then I zipped back to sunset beach for what else? to watch the sunset. The I had another late dinner and drinks at Davey Jones Ribs again.

Kite surfers, think windsurfing but with a large parachute type kite instead

I Thought as I drove up that looks like a DC-10 crashed on the beach. The guard told me it was an L-1011, and the set of a new TV show, Wanna guess what show it was??? Scroll on down to find out.

If you guessed Lost you are right and you win.....................Nothing, congratulations.

Hawaiian cocks running free cause all sorts of problems for the locals.

The famous Hale'iwa sign As I drove along the shore line I listened to 3 young local surfer guys on the radio talking all sorts of smack about who was doing what, who was doing who and where everyone was hanging out, they were taking in a mix of pidgin and English and were cracking me up. I just loved driving along listening to them.

Sunset on Sunset beach, How cool is that. Ya I know what a tourist thing to do, but wait I'm a tourist.

While I was eating at the shrimp shack they were playing some local music and this really amazing and haunting piece of music came on, I listened to it and knew I had to find out who was singing, I asked folks running the stand as they had a minute while they were closing up and I was the only customer there. they told me it was by Israel Kamakawiwo`ole and you are listening to him right now if your sound is on, switch the music up top and listen to Hawaii 78 from the Album Facing Future.
