Forest Fire!

I was almost to Tok at about 7:30 pm but I got side tracked by this forest fire that looked like it was close to the Taylor Hwy. I had to wait a while for it to get close but did it ever. the forest service finally kicked me out when it was less than a quarter mile from the hwy. I had at that time been able to feel the heat and hear the fire for over an hour. what I didn't think of and the forest service guy pointed out was that the side of my truck had been facing the heat the entire time with no breaks while I had been ducking back down behind the truck. It was rather hot but didn't do any damage.
While I was taking pictures of the fire some local guys from Tok came by and were taking pictures but they quickly ran out of film, I got to talking to them and they seemed to be pretty nice guys so I offered to burn them a CD of my shots and mail it to them. The one guy Dar short for Dartanien said that I could drop them off at the camp ground in town that his family owned. I said sure and they left, The next morning I did drop off a CD and everyone there was eager to see the shots. It was even suggested that the local paper might be interested, I said that if they wanted to use them I was fine with that and all I asked was that I get credit as the photographer.

As of about this shot I switched to my standard lens with little or no zoom as the fire was plenty close to get good shots.
