Well I finally got to bed about midnight last night, it took a little
while to find a camp site that had spaces. It got COLD last night, down
around the upper thirties, good thing I had extra blankets. So I got up at
4:30 this morning and made it to a really nice spot close to the mountains
to take some sunrise pictures. I have seen times in the past where as the
sun comes up it really illuminates the east face of mountains turning them
a vibrant gold or sometimes pink and orange. I didn't get that effect this
morning but the pics are nice none the less. I headed north up the park
road and spotted some Elk in a field off to the east. I got out my
big new 300mm canon lens and got some nice pics, but then I spotted some
more Elk just off the road and got some even better shots. the scene was
incredible. it was cold and crisp out. about 6:30 at this point and there
were no other cars on the road so it was kind of like I had the park all
to my self. The sun was really low still and was turning everything gold.
Unfortunately it is very difficult to shoot in to the sun, epically when
it is very low so many of the shots I took were washed out but a few good
ones came out and are below. |
